Friday Digital Roundup
The Friday Digital Roundup is a witty take on the weird world of the internet. With fun stories from around the globe, it’s the only email newsletter you’ll actually read and enjoy!
We do love writing it, but clearly not as much as people like receiving it - just look at the response we got when a technical hitch meant it wasn’t sent out on time!

Coffee and the FDR is how I start my Friday.
Do not engage until I have devoured both
When it comes to the end of the week, there is no better way to start a Friday than with a run around the internet with Todd and Jo in the FDR. Just don't let them know I do it from the loo!
@Spaghetti_Jo

How to Choose the Thumbnail for Facebook Live Video
Have you tried Facebook Live yet? It’s a scary thought going live on the internet to your following, isn’t it? Even more scary when you consider it can be shared live and anyone could turn up in the comments.
Facebook Live is great fun though and even if you hate it, you should check it out and try to use it for your business. I’m not going to deal with your demons about video in this post (click here for broadcasting tips and here for tips for introverts); instead I’m going to fix the awful thing that Facebook Live does to you AFTER the Live video has ended.
The thumbnail. That’s the still that Facebook automatically generates for you after you finish streaming. It’s the image with the play button embedded on that you’ll see in the timeline.
How to Choose the Thumbnail for Facebook Live Video
It’s really important. When you think about it, the still is a large part of your post and one of the biggest reasons for getting clicked or not.
So it makes sense to want to get the best thumbnail that you can.
Good news: you can add your own just like on YouTube, and here’s a simple video I recorded this week to show you how to create your customised thumbnail.
Now… go off and create that Live video and feel free to share it with me on Twitter when you do!

WOW! what a difference that made! Can’t wait to try it myself… once I’ve gotten over the regular video hurdle 🙂 I will… I have done a couple already but just not ‘off the cuff’.
Thank you… suspect I am going to be spending a lot of time around Spaghettiville 🙂

Hi, does this work for FB Live videos posted in FB groups? We tried it, but it just brought up a box to edit the title not change the image? Thank you!

This example is for pages. Sometimes in groups and personal you can still edit it.
Click ‘Edit post’ or click on the video and click ‘edit video’ and you might find that you can do it there.
It’s a new feature at the time of writing this so it might not with rolled out to everyone yet.
