Friday Digital Roundup
The Friday Digital Roundup is a witty take on the weird world of the internet. With fun stories from around the globe, it’s the only email newsletter you’ll actually read and enjoy!
We do love writing it, but clearly not as much as people like receiving it - just look at the response we got when a technical hitch meant it wasn’t sent out on time!

Coffee and the FDR is how I start my Friday.
Do not engage until I have devoured both
When it comes to the end of the week, there is no better way to start a Friday than with a run around the internet with Todd and Jo in the FDR. Just don't let them know I do it from the loo!

Social Media Updates You Might Have Missed This Month
We get it – December is busy. Christmas parties, Christmas shopping, Christmas drinks… The list goes on. So realistically, who’s watching what’s happening on our favourite social channels? Me! That’s who. I’m usually doing this whilst at a Christmas party… Or Christmas shopping… Or Christmas drinks. Nevermind, let’s get into it.
Social Media Updates You Might Have Missed This Month
Instagram is still copying people
Instagram are a bunch of copycats – I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… So, it’s no surprise to hear that they’re working on another BeReal-esque feature.
Apparently, they’re working on a “Roll Call” feature which will allow you to see what everyone’s up to in your group chats. You’d just have five minutes to add a photo/video, and the responses expire after 24 hours.
LinkedIn has announced its new “focused inbox” – thank God!
LinkedIn have essentially added a ‘spam’ filter… but called it a “focused inbox” format. This handy feature will reroute those spammy messages (you know the ones – we all get them) to a separate inbox. Hallelujah!
Twitter – blue, gold, and grey
After everyone and their nan bought blue ticks on Twitter, Elon’s had to reassess. He’s now launching blue, gold, and grey ticks for verified Twitter accounts.
In a recent tweet, Musk clarified that it would be a gold check for companies, grey check for the government, and blue for individuals (celebrities or not). Sounds sus to me.
LinkedIn is rolling out native post-scheduling (yasss!)
LinkedIn is FINALLY rolling out a new feature that allows you to schedule posts for a later time, which is great news for social media managers.
Those that already have the feature will see a little clock icon next to the “post” button within the post-writing box… I’m still waiting for mine. ?
WhatsApp is rolling out a feature called “message yourself”
I don’t know about you but my notes app on my phone is absolutely wild. Full of reminders, lists, things without context so when I look back at them, I’m like…
WhatsApp got this and turned it into a handy feature. You can now message yourself all of your reminders, shopping lists, notes, and it’ll be accessible with all of your other messages. Perfect, tbh.
They announced it last month and it will be rolling out in the next coming weeks.
Shadowbanned? Now you’ll know
In the world of social media, the term “shadowban” gets thrown around a lot. People not viewing your Instagram stories? Must be shadowbanned. Is your reach pitiful? Blame the shadowban. Maybe your social media plan isn’t working? SHADOWBANNED!
Well, Instagram are launching a new feature that will let you know if your content isn’t being recommended in Explore or other discovery elements, and it will actually tell you WHY you’ve been shadowbanned. Yeehaa!
If you don’t have the time to keep up to date with the latest social media happenings and could do with someone to help you plan (and make!) your content, get in touch. We might be able to help!
