Friday Digital Roundup
The Friday Digital Roundup is a witty take on the weird world of the internet. With fun stories from around the globe, it’s the only email newsletter you’ll actually read and enjoy!
We do love writing it, but clearly not as much as people like receiving it - just look at the response we got when a technical hitch meant it wasn’t sent out on time!

Coffee and the FDR is how I start my Friday.
Do not engage until I have devoured both
When it comes to the end of the week, there is no better way to start a Friday than with a run around the internet with Todd and Jo in the FDR. Just don't let them know I do it from the loo!

Social Media Updates You Might Have Missed This Month
Something is always changing with social media: you blink, and you’ll miss three new features. But no one likes missing out on things so we’ve pulled together a short and quick recap of what’s changed this month. It’s the perfect balance to last week’s mammoth blog!
Social Media Updates You Might Have Missed This Month
If you’re a Friday Digital Roundup subscriber, you might already know some of this but there’s plenty of new stuff you may not have heard yet.
Facebook updates
A quiet month for Facebook – they appear to be working on collaborative Reels (i.e., bringing across the existing functionality from Instagram).
Instagram updates
In a shocking move, Instagram hasn’t released a feature based on TikTok this month! Or Be Real, for that matter. Instead, they’ve:
- Updated the web browser layout.
- Created the option of scheduling posts within the app (game-changer!). Sadly, it’s only being rolled out slowly for now.
There are also some rumours about what’s in the works:
- The most amazing rumour that we’re hoping is true – adding a song to your profile like back in the classic MySpace world #SimplerTimes.
- Commenting with GIFs (is this necessary anymore?!)
- Users earning achievement badges as part of their drive to make us all create reels 24/7 ?
- Adding a CTA to your bio link to save you from having to use your limited bio character count for the CTA (handy)
LinkedIn updates
Not exactly new this month but one that’s flown under the radar so far: you can now add a clickable link to photo posts. So, you can pick any photo you like and then choose the link you want to include – a nice alternative to having to share whatever pic comes with a URL.
Pinterest updates
More of a #bts kind of update from Pinterest but important for measuring the impact of your efforts. They’ve stepped up their analytics game to offer new insights as well as a beefed-up conversions API.
TikTok updates
Here’s what TikTok has been up to:
- Introduced ‘photo mode’ – aka what Instagram is used for!
- Increased the caption character limit to a gigantic 2,200…prompting people to do some really looooooooong captions!!
- Partnered with LinkTree so users can highlight videos on LinkTree and people can then watch the TikToks without having to leave the app.
- Added new age limits for live streaming including an ‘adults-only’ category.
Twitter updates
Over on Twitter:
- They’ve begun the rollout of the ‘edit Tweet’ feature (is this cheating?!).
- Professional accounts now have the option to add a spotlight CTA button (e.g., book an appointment, view menu).
- A new feature to restrict who can mention your handle – you can block specific accounts or only allow followers to mention you.
So, that’s it – the social media updates (and rumours) from this month all wrapped up!
