Friday Digital Roundup
The Friday Digital Roundup is a witty take on the weird world of the internet. With fun stories from around the globe, it’s the only email newsletter you’ll actually read and enjoy!
We do love writing it, but clearly not as much as people like receiving it - just look at the response we got when a technical hitch meant it wasn’t sent out on time!

Coffee and the FDR is how I start my Friday.
Do not engage until I have devoured both
When it comes to the end of the week, there is no better way to start a Friday than with a run around the internet with Todd and Jo in the FDR. Just don't let them know I do it from the loo!

What is the Best Social Media Channel?
I’m often asked about my recommendations for the best social media channel to use.
Well, here’s where I’d start:
- Who are you?
- What is your business?
- Who are the people that are going to buy from it?
Because the answers will determine the best social media channel for you.
It’s not about your favourite social media channel!
What is the Best Social Media Channel?
Where your customers are is the best channel for your business.
I’m a big fan at the moment, for example, of Facebook – but in groups, not pages. I’m really enjoying Facebook groups because I’m a big networker. I go to a lot of networking events and those networking events have groups that you can engage in and that’s a great follow-up and adds to my networking.
I used to use Twitter a lot as a networking tool, but I’ve migrated over to Facebook groups.
LinkedIn is getting quite exciting now. If you’re into corporate businesses or even if you’re not, LinkedIn now becoming more of a social media channel. I use it to connect with people in between in networking events, too.
If you’ve got a visual business, you should look at things like Pinterest, and definitely look at Instagram, and also consider YouTube.
If you’re a speaker, you’ve got to use YouTube.
Look at the channels and fit them to your business and your customers. That is the social media channel you should be using. Keep your eyes peeled for the new channels as they come along.
The chances are, it’ll be one or a combination of the three big ones: Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter. But think about where your customers are because that is the social media channel you really should be using.

There’s so much clutter filling users’ social platforms these days that you have to post much more to breakthrough and get exposure. For the people that have already been exposed, they’ll simply scroll or skip past it, but to deprive those who haven’t seen your content would be doing your business a disservice.
